Studying Occlusal Disease and its Affect on our Patients

Occlusal disease occurs when a patient’s teeth do not align, or fit together properly.  Occlusal disease can cause a series of issues for our patients including TMJ, excessive wear and tear, fractures, tooth sensitivity, cavities and gum disease.

With occlusal disease, TMJ problems may occur as teeth begin to wear against each other.  Patients may also grind their teeth because their bite is “off”.  An uneven bite can affect tooth structure, the surrounding bone, roots, gum tissue and jaw joints.

We believe in continuing our education and expanding our knowledge in order to provide you with the best level of dental care.

Dr. Rob Adair recently returned from the Kois Center in Seattle.  There he participated in a comprehensive class involving aesthetic, occlusion and restorative dentistry.  Dr. Rob has also studied extensively at The Pankey Institute over the years.  The Pankey Institute provides doctors with an opportunity to study and master specific skills to use in their dental practices.

Dr. Heather Adams recently had the opportunity to study at The Pankey Institute in Biscayne, Florida.  Dr. Adams studied advances in occlusal disease and sharpened her skills in providing comprehensive dental evaluations.

It is important for your dental health to see us on a regular basis!   Along with checking for decay, we want to assist you in having a healthy bite.  During your visit let us analyze your bite and begin treatment of occlusal disease if there are any indications.
